Booking abandonment: the 3 hidden friction points
Your booking page loses more customers between 'view services' and 'confirm' than it converts. Here's where they leak.

We measured 1.2 million booking sessions across the Cover Beauty network in Q1. The average conversion from 'landed on booking page' to 'confirmed booking' was 34%. The top decile hit 62%. The difference wasn't the salon, it was three specific friction points.
1. The service picker
If your service list is longer than 12 items, split it into categories. If it uses jargon (Balayage vs. highlights vs. lowlights), add a plain-English subtitle. Every extra second spent reading is a customer who might not book.
2. The time slot grid
Showing only 'available' slots is a modern expectation. Showing 'call to book' or blank cells for busy staff is a Web 1.0 friction. If a slot is not shown, it does not exist to the customer.
3. Account creation timing
Ask for email and phone at the confirmation step, not up front. Requiring account creation before service selection halves booking completion, every time we test it.
